Tijd voor een kledingwissel: van winterlagen naar zomerse luchtigheid (met checklist!)

Time for a closet switch: from winter layers to summer lightness (with checklist!)

The weather might have been a little moody lately — warm one day, chilly the next — but it’s clear that summer is on its way in. And with the sun starting to peek through more consistently, now is the perfect moment to transition your winter wardrobe to your summer one. Not just to make space, but to bring a little calm and clarity back into your mornings.

1. Pick a calm day (and don’t rush it)
Don’t just start pulling clothes out randomly in the middle of a busy day. Choose a morning or afternoon when you have time, space, and maybe even a good playlist in the background. This small ritual can feel surprisingly grounding when you give it your full attention.

2. Sort winter items before storing them
As you remove your winter clothes, check each item:

  • Did I wear this at all this season?
  • Does it still fit my style and needs?
  • Is anything damaged or in need of repair or cleaning?

Only keep what you truly love and wear. Donate what no longer serves you and store the rest in labeled boxes or vacuum bags to free up space.

3. Give your closet a quick clean
Now’s the time. Wipe down the shelves, dust the corners, and give your space a little refresh before your summer pieces go in. Maybe even add a soft scent sachet or some cedar wood blocks to keep things fresh and moth-free.

4. Rediscover your summer wardrobe
You may have noticed it already: those few warm days that popped up recently… and you just didn’t know what to wear. Your closet wasn’t ready yet — and that can make mornings feel more chaotic than they need to be.

By doing this full clear-up now, you’ll become aware of what summer clothes you actually still have, and what still fits your mood, style, and body. It’s like shopping your own wardrobe — without spending a cent.

5. Take time to create combinations
Instead of just hanging your summer items back in the closet, take a moment to create outfits.
Lay pieces on your bed or try them on.
Think:

  • What feels good together?
  • What do I always forget I own?
  • What’s missing to complete a look?

Snap a quick photo of each outfit and save them in a dedicated album in your phone’s Notes or Photos app. That way, when you're standing in front of your closet unsure what to wear, you'll have instant inspiration ready to go.

This small act takes the stress out of getting dressed — and brings more ease into your everyday.

6. Create seasonal sections
If you have the space, keep a few lightweight layering pieces (like a denim jacket or long-sleeve shirt) on hand for those unpredictable days. Use categories like:

  • Light dresses
  • Everyday basics
  • Evening wear
  • Activewear
  • You can even use dividers or baskets to create visual calm in your wardrobe.

7. Let it inspire the rest of your home
Once your closet feels lighter and more seasonal, you might feel inspired to carry that energy through the rest of your home. Maybe it's time to swap out some winter throws for linen covers or add a basket for sunglasses and sun lotion near the door. One change often sparks another.

Final Tip: Keep it simple. Keep it you.
You don’t need a capsule wardrobe or a Pinterest-perfect closet. What matters most is that your space reflects who you are today. Let this transition be a moment of reset, not just for your wardrobe, but for your mindset too.
