Where It All Started
It all started in a spare room in Rotterdam.
At the time, it felt completely normal to have boxes stacked around the apartment, packing materials on the table and products slowly taking over whatever space was still available. Every order was packed by hand, and once everything was ready, the parcels were taken to the post office ourselves. There was no warehouse team, no fulfillment partner and no one else behind the scenes.
It was just us. One order at a time. Looking back, it’s quite funny to think about.
What started as a small business in one spare room slowly became a business that was taking over the home. The more Osoe Home grew, the more difficult it became to keep up with everything alone. We would pack orders, prepare shipments, answer messages, work on new products and somehow try to keep everything moving at the same time.
At the beginning, you don't really think about how the business will look in a few years. You’re simply focused on the next order, the next product and the next idea and then, suddenly, you look around and realize that the little business you started in your spare room has grown beyond what you can manage from home.
As much as we loved packing the orders ourselves, we eventually reached the point where we needed a proper fulfillment partner. That was a big step for us. When you've packed every order yourself for years, you know exactly what goes into every box. You know where everything is. You see every product before it leaves your hands.
So choosing the right partner wasn't simply about finding somewhere to store our products. It was about finding people we could trust with something we had built from the ground up.
Where We Are Today
Walking through the warehouse where our orders are packed and sent out every day and honestly, it feels very different from that little spare room in Rotterdam.
The first thing you notice is how organized everything is. Every Osoe product has its own location. The jars are neatly stored, the containers have their own shelves, and even our labels are organized and ready to go.
There are rows and rows of products, all waiting for their next destination.
Someone's kitchen. Someone's pantry. Someone's new home organization project.
There’s something quite satisfying about seeing everything in its place, especially when organization is such a big part of what we create at Osoe Home.
We spend so much time thinking about how our products can help people organize their homes, so seeing our own products organized in such a large space feels almost like seeing our philosophy come to life on a much bigger scale.
But what I love most about being here is seeing the people behind the orders. When you place an order with us, you only see the final part of the journey.
You click checkout. A few days later, a box arrives at your doorstep. It can feel very simple from the outside. But between those two moments, there are people working behind the scenes. They pick every product, prepare every order, check the details and carefully pack every box before it leaves the warehouse.
For around 360 days of the year, we’re not always physically present at the warehouse . We don't walk through the warehouse every morning. We don't see the orders being picked. We don't watch every parcel being packed.
We have to trust our fulfillment partner to take care of Osoe Home the way we would. And trust is a big thing when you’re running a business. Especially when your products are something you've spent so much time developing.
You want them stored properly. You want them handled carefully. You want the right products to go into the right boxes and most importantly, you want the people handling your orders to care about getting it right.
So every time we visit, we notice the little things.
Is everything clean?
Are the products where they should be? Is everything organized?
Are the shelves maintained?
Does the team know what they're doing?
And every time, we leave with the same feeling. Yes. This is exactly where we want Osoe Home to be. It’s reassuring to see that even when we’re thousands of kilometres away, things are being taken care of.
A Little Quality Check & Looking Back
Every time we visited the warehouse, we also took the opportunity to check some of the new batches that had just arrived. Because a warehouse visit for us is never just a quick hello and goodbye. There is always something we want to check.
A new product. A new batch. A new colour. A small detail that we've been discussing from afar and finally get to see in person.
We checked the quality of the new arrivals, looked closely at the details and made sure everything was as it should be and then there was the new colour of our handmade utensils. This was one of those moments we had been looking forward to.
When you're working from abroad, so much of product development happens through screens. You look at samples, photographs, colour references and videos. You talk about small differences and make decisions without always having the final product physically in front of you.
So there’s something special about finally seeing it in real life.
We had been waiting to see how the new colour would turn out, and when we finally held the finished utensils in our hands, it was one of those small moments that made the whole trip feel worth it.
A colour can look completely different on a screen, on a sample or in a photograph. Seeing the finished product in person is always the moment when everything comes together and yes, we were very happy with how it turned out.
It’s been quite a journey. Sometimes, when you're busy building something, you don't stop to look at how far you've come. But standing in that warehouse gave us a little moment to do exactly that.
To remember where Osoe started. To appreciate where we are now and to feel incredibly grateful for everyone who has been part of getting us here. Most importantly, for everyone who has ever placed an order with us.
Because every box leaving that warehouse represents a small part of this journey and honestly, from that little spare room in Rotterdam to a warehouse full of Osoe Home products...
We wouldn't want it any other way.
