Are Black Friday deals worth it? Our view as minimalist e-commerce entrepreneurs.

Gift guides, Black Week deals, wishlists, “gifting season,” holiday offers, exclusive bundles, and flash sales… Companies pull out all the stops during this time of year to grab our attention.

And let’s be honest, it works. Many of us fall for the hype year after year, swept up in the excitement of snagging the “perfect deal.” But have you ever stopped to think about what all this stuff adds to your life—or takes away from it?

More is not more, more is stress.
This year, something forced us to take a different approach.

Picture this: traveling abroad with two overpacked suitcases and a stuffed backpack, maxing out the weight limit for every flight. It’s a juggling act—shifting items between cabin and checked luggage, planning every move to avoid excess fees.

One word describes it: STRESS.

Carrying all that “essential” stuff was exhausting. Every flight became a logistical nightmare, and there was no room for souvenirs or local treasures. It was a wake-up call: we weren’t traveling lighter because of all the things weighing us down.

That stress led us to reevaluate how much we really need—and how often we shop for things we don’t.

Let’s face it: that limited-edition bag might look stunning today, but would you have noticed it a week ago? And will you even think about it in a month? Most purchases we’re tempted by are fleeting desires, fueled by clever marketing strategies designed to create urgency.

Black Friday is no exception.
Companies carefully craft campaigns to make us feel like we’re missing out. They don’t care about our peace of mind—they care about selling their products. And year after year, we fall for it.

But we don’t have to.

Instead of jumping on every deal, we encourage you to shift your focus this Black Friday. Invest in things that bring lasting value to your life—whether that’s an experience, a tool that simplifies your daily routine, or something that genuinely aligns with your long-term goals.

Ask yourself:

- Will this purchase improve my life in a meaningful way?

- Or is it just another impulse buy I’ll forget in a month?

This year, let’s make smarter choices and focus on what truly matters: investments for the long term that truly add to our happiness.

Are you rethinking your Black Friday purchases?
